Please thoroughly read the rules and follow the instructions within. Punishment explanation: The following rules are classed into three levels of severity. The levels are green (least severe), yellow (moderately severe), and red (most severe). The severity of breaking the corresponding rule is marked by a colored bullet [and letter for our colorblind friendlies] that matches that level's color. The punishments are explained below:
[G] Rules broken in the green level result in (1) warning, (2) kick warning
, (3) kick, (4) demotion to On-Watch, (5) ban warning, (6) ban
[Y] Rules broken in the yellow level will result in (1) kick warning, (2) kick, (3) demotion to On-Watch, (4) ban warning, (5) ban.
[R] Rules broken in the red level will result in an instant ban, no questions asked.
The sub-rules below will have the corresponding bullet to the level of severity, and those sub-rules will be treated with the lines of punishment above. If you break a rule and you have been punished according to these steps, your "slate" will be reset within a week of your first punishment. Your line of punishment is based on the room as a whole, so if two mods punish you, that counts as two steps on the corresponding line of punishment. If lines are crossed (green rule broken, then a yellow, then a green, etc.), then it is up to the moderator to determine which punishment is a better fit. If rules continue to be broken numerous times after your slate has been reset, you risk demotion and possible banning, which is up to the moderator's discretion.
All bans may be questioned or appealed by sending a note to
GlowingDeathclaw.
Now for the actual rules.
No drama in the chatroom.
[G] Drama inside the chatroom, in another chatroom, or in your daily life is not to be brought up in the main chat. Venting and asking for advice is allowed, but if it becomes a cause for anger or upset, moderators reserve the right to shut it down. This also includes complaints between current or previous roleplay partners. If you guys need to argue or hash out some roleplay specifics or want to gripe at one another, drop it or take it to another room. We don't want to hear any of it.
Respect each others' opinions and sensitive topics.
[G]
We understand that everyone is entitled to personal opinion, and that's great! Makes you unique! But if someone's opinion is different than your own, respect that person. If you feel the want to debate about it, feel free. Debates are fun. However, if either party becomes angry or overly pushy about their opinion, moderators may shut the conversation down. Respect others if they wish to discontinue the conversation, or move it to another room if a majority of the room is uncomfortable with the topic at hand.
[Y]
Note: any opinions that are harmful to other groups of people (including but not limited to sexism, racism, homophobia, etc.) are prohibited in the room.
[Y] Note: Any mention of illegal activities will result in punishment. This includes drugs (yes, we know it is legal in some US states and some countries, but they are illegal in the majority of the world, so it is included), underage drinking, stealing, murdering, etc.
[R]
Note: A few topics are prohibited in the room. They include rape, pedophilia, animal abuse, graphic descriptions of violence, sexually explicit content, or derogatory terms for people of certain ethnicity, sexual orientation, or gender orientation.
[R]
Note: Any threats, cyberbullying, or harrassment will not be tolerated under any circumstances. You will be banned if you are found partaking in doing these things to someone.
Do not spam the chat.
[G]
This includes spamming icons, thumbs, emoticons, text, and everything in between.
[G]
Don't stretch your consecutive letter count or have a consecutive caps count at, above, or within a few counts of 15 characters. "Within a few counts" is up to the discretion of the moderator. (Usernames are an exception, in case you chose to use 20 U's for some godforsaken reason.)
[Y] No walls of text (unless a
subbed request is really just wayyyy long).
[R] Keep from flooding the room, don't repeat the same or similar phrases over and over again, etc.
Advertising
Posting links to outside sources in the chats are fine within the following guidelines. When in doubt, ask a moderator before posting a link.
[G] Do not spam links that are not relevant to the topic at hand. If links are relevant to the current discussion, be respectful and let others have a chance to post their ideas before you post your 7 links on why you think space travel to outer solar systems is possible.
[Y] Personal advertisement is not allowed, unless you have private approval from a moderator beforehand. This includes contests, other groups, other chats (unless it's to move an rp or conversation to a separate chatroom), personal pages, your YouTube channel, your cat's blog, etc.
[G] ALL NSFW links must be labeled as NSFW. Post and click at your own discretion.Examples of acceptable links: the occasional YouTube video that the room just HAS to watch; streams (twitch, Picarto, etc.); personal gallery for purpose of getting opinions or critique; sta.sh links; information someone requested. Please use discretion when posting links. Roleplaying
Roleplaying can be done inside or outside the room, in script or paragraph forms, though it is usually done in a separate chatroom to avoid flooding the room if it is a relatively lazy day. They are typically done in italics in the room, but it is not strictly necessary.
[G]
Bold is to be used only for roleplay requests, and requests may only be posted every fifteen minutes.
[R]
In addition, no "steameh hawt sexeh roleplay" will be requested for or done in OCMeetsOC under any circumstances. We have young people in the chatroom. Requesting this type of roleplay is shown by requesting or insinuating the act of sex, fetishes, seme/uke, yaoi, yuri, etc.
Trolling
[R]
Trolls will be banned, no questions asked. It is up to the mods themselves to decide whether or not someone is trolling and act accordingly. There will be no pardons for trolls unless they can prove that it was all a misunderstanding, which hasn't happened yet. Surprise us and win a cookie.
[Y] Users who are caught promoting troll behavior will also be punished.
Moderator Etiquette
Moderators are here to help. We are here to keep the peace, and we want to make sure everyone is having a good experience in this chatroom. If you need to speak to one privately, do not hesitate to do so. If you have questions, do not hesitate to ask.
On this note, moderators are also here to take care of those who are breaking these rules or trying to tip the boat. In these moments, we will take care of those involved, no matter the relationship to the users in question. Please do not disrespect these moderators. We're only doing our job.
[Y] Disrespect to moderators includes aggravated talking back (defending yourself is fine, but keep the tone mild and respectful), blatant ignoring, talking bad about them to other users, etc.
[Y] Backseat modding is also not permitted. If there is an active mod (within the past 15 minutes) in the room, let them deal with the problems and newcomers. If the mod is AFK or there is no mod in the room and something happens, please send a note to those in the Judgement class so we can go through logs and decide what is best for whatever it is that happened.
Unidentified Class
Those who do not get sorted within an hour will be kicked from the chatroom until they decide to come back and try again. If they reach near the hour mark (within 10 minutes), it will be treated the same as if they were kicked. If they return, instead of the full hour, they will only get thirty minutes. If they are kicked or leave again (within 5 minutes of kicking time) and they return, they will only get fifteen minutes. If they are kicked or leave again, the user will be banned. This is to avoid people from getting the same privileges that other members do.
[G]
Assisting new users in following the instructions of these rules exceeding "read the rules" or "listen to the moderators" is not permitted. Members, you guys got in on your own, the newblets can do that too.Have Fun
These rules are meant to keep fun in the chat, not a frown on your face. (Corny, yaddayaddayadda.) If you aren't having fun, something is very, very wrong and you need to contact someone about it. We will refund your defective fun and get you some fun that actually works. Tab a mod with this sentence after you have finished reading the rules: "Someone said 'gkee' one time and some other people thought it was funny, so it's a thing now." You can then be sorted into the class that best fits your style of roleplay.
Note: Tabbing is achieved by typing out the first few letters of a user's name, then hitting the 'tab' button (located over caps lock on most keyboards).
Note: Mods are members of the GameMaster, Gojira-Ue, Judgement, TheCapn, and Judges-In-Training classes.
You do NOT have to post a character sheet.
